TechConsult has been founded in 1992 in Kassel by Peter Burghardt and Andreas W. Klein as a marketing research and consulting company for the ICT industry. Within just a few years we have reached a leading position in primary research within the information and telecommunications technology market in Central Europe. He holds a position as Tenure Professor in Marketing at the Münster University of Applied Sciences since 1991. Previously, after lecturing at the Free University Berlin he was appointed Professor for Marketing in Düsseldorf. His research lies in the areas of Industrial Marketing (B-to-B) Technology Marketing and Software Marketing. Nowadays he established a major particularly in Science-to-Business Marketing. As a consultant, he was involved in strategic projects of international consulting companies or in consulting on strategic level for renowned companies, as well as for SMEs and Start Ups. 1998-2003, Thomas Baaken held the position of the Deputy Vice Chancellor (Vice-Rector) Research and TechTransfer at the Muenster University of Applied Sciences. He was responsible for Research Strategies and Programs, industrial liaison, entrepreneurial activities, links to the European Community, technology transfer, and the marketing of the university research as well as relationships and networks. In 2003/2004 Thomas Baaken lived in Adelaide, Australia as a Guest Professor for Technology Transfer & Management and Science Marketing at the Education Centre for Innovation and Commercialisation (ECIC), The University of Adelaide. Since 2002 he runs a government funded “Science-to-Business Marketing Research Centreâ€, which is based in Germany. In 2005 Prof Baaken was also appointed as Leader of the European Union (EU) working group “University Interaction with Industryâ€, which recently published the Handbook “Responsible Partnering†under ProTon Europe. Thomas Baaken published more than 70 papers in important papers and his records of presentations are listing more than 100 positions and 15 countries and served in a number of highly ranked committees and expert panels on national and international level. Thomas was intensely involved in the creation and founding procedure of TechConsult in the early 90s and is in close relationship with the company since the very beginning. Today he is chairing the advisory board of TechConsult. His contribution is mainly focused on new business models and on the strategic profile of the company.
